Project Rhino’s Aerial Patrol Wings
The Zululand and Midlands Aerial Patrol Wings provide rapid aerial surveillance and response across multiple reserves, dramatically increasing the range and speed of anti-poaching operations. Our aircraft act as eyes in the sky, helping to protect South Africa’s iconic wildlife - especially rhinos - from poachers.
Project Rhino K9-Unit
To support highly trained anti-poaching dogs and their handlers in patrols, tracking, and investigations, safeguarding rhinos and other endangered species across KwaZulu-Natal.
Dehorning Programme
In 2017, Project Rhino launched the Rhino Dehorning Programme following urgent requests from our member reserves facing relentless poaching threats. Our goal is to support the dehorning of approximately 200 rhinos each year across KwaZulu-Natal. Although dehorning alone cannot make rhinos completely immune to poaching, it has significantly reduced losses and, in many areas, successfully shifted poachers away from treated populations.

To provide quiet, mobile, and effective anti-poaching patrols in difficult terrain while enhancing rhino protection through increased visibility and faster response times.
Ranger Training & Reserve Support
Empowering rangers and strengthening reserve security through specialist training, essential equipment, and targeted support. By improving skills, boosting morale, and providing the tools needed to stay one step ahead of poachers, Project Rhino ensures that frontline defenders and reserves are equipped to protect endangered wildlife and safeguard our natural heritage.
