World Rhino Day 2026

Today, we celebrate the rhino, but more importantly, we celebrate everyone who refuses to give up on its future.

At Project Rhino, every day is a reminder that conservation is not a spectator sport.

It is rangers walking the frontline.
It is K9 teams following a track through the bush.
It is aircraft in the sky, intelligence teams working behind the scenes, veterinarians saving lives, communities standing alongside conservation, and partners who continue to believe that protecting our wildlife is worth fighting for.

And there is reason for hope.

South Africa recorded a 16% decline in rhino poaching in 2025, with 352 rhinos lost compared to 420 in 2024. In KwaZulu-Natal, losses fell from 232 to 97.

But 352 is not a victory. It is 352 too many.

So today, we don't just celebrate the progress. We recommit to the work still ahead.

To every ranger who stands between our wildlife and those who would destroy it, we see you. We stand with you.

To our partners, supporters, donors, conservationists and communities, thank you for standing in our corner.

And to every rhino still walking free in the wild, we will keep fighting for your future.

Because the goal is not simply to save rhinos today.

The goal is to ensure that our children, and their children, will still know the wonder of seeing a rhino in the wild.

This World Rhino Day, stand with us.
Protect the wild.
Protect the future.

Project Rhino - Together, we make a difference!
