21KM'S FOR CONSERVATION
On 19 September, ranger teams, conservation staff, children, volunteers and supporters gathered at Bonamanzi Game Reserve for the annual Tusk Wildlife Ranger Challenge - a 21km run honouring the men and women protecting Africa’s wild spaces.
The challenge highlights the physical demands of frontline conservation and the shared commitment of those determined to protect it.
Despite the rain and muddy trails, our teams and runners pushed through. Nothing dampens the spirit when you're running for the wild - in the wild.
What a day! Special thanks to the teams at Mr Price Sport, Rhino Art, the Kingsley Holgate Foundation, and Wild Connection for joining us on the day.
Thank you, too, to everyone who contributed to our fundraiser, with every donation boosted by a 25% match from the Scheinberg Relief Fund. We're incredibly grateful for your support.
THANK YOU MR PRICE SPORT
For over a decade, Mr Price Sport has stood alongside Project Rhino in the fight against wildlife crime. Every time you wear their rhino-inspired tees, socks and hats - you’re helping support real action.
At this year's Wildlife Ranger Challenge, members of the Mr Price Sport design, buying and marketing teams joined us for the 21km run alongside our ranger teams. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our work and spend time with the team behind our partnership.
To top off an incredible day, Mr Price Sport presented us with an extraordinary R353,024.20 raised entirely through the sales of the Project Rhino range. Talk about wearing your wild side!

K9 TRAINING & MENTORSHIP
Project Rhino recently supported an intensive two-week K9 mentorship programme at Thula Thula and VenAfrica Game Reserves. The training brought together handlers and rangers from Project Rhino, Mfezi Security, Amakhala Game Reserve and Security4you.
Led by conservation K9 specialist Johan van Straaten, handlers and their canines were put through their paces with tracking, detection and live-scenario incursion drills.
The sessions also focused on the core fundamentals: understanding dog behaviour, sharpening communication under pressure, and building the mental endurance handlers and dogs need side-by-side.
Providing ongoing training and mentorship like this helps anti-poaching teams develop the skills and readiness to meet the demands of frontline conservation.
Partner Spotlights
Oneplan Insurance
Project Rhino’s long-standing partnership with Oneplan provides K9 insurance as well as medical insurance for our K9 handlers.
The risks are real, and knowing our teams are covered provides peace of mind for Project Rhino and the teams on the frontline.

Since 2021, Miro & Makauri have partnered with Project Rhino to help fund dog food and veterinary supplies for our Anti-Poaching K9 Unit.
These remarkable dogs work alongside their handlers to track suspects, detect threats and support anti-poaching operations. By helping meet their daily care needs, Miro & Makauri make a valued contribution to the wellbeing of our K9 team and the protection of KwaZulu-Natal’s wildlife.
