Wildlife Ranger Challenge
Celebrate and support Africa’s wildlife rangers
The Wildlife Ranger Challenge is an annual pan-African event launched by Tusk and the Game Rangers Association of Africa (GRAA) to celebrate and support the men and women protecting Africa's wildlife. Since its inception, the WRC has positively impacted more than 11,500 rangers through training, professional development, welfare and frontline conservation efforts.
In the lead-up to race day, Ranger teams complete a series of physical and mental challenges, including push-ups, sit-ups, a time trial and a wildlife knowledge quiz, before taking on a 21km half marathon on the 19 September. These challenges reflect the fitness, knowledge and resilience required of rangers every day.
This year, Project Rhino's K9 Unit will proudly represent KwaZulu-Natal, standing alongside ranger teams from across Africa to raise funds for those working on the frontline of conservation. Donations will help strengthen Project Rhino's ranger and K9 programmes through specialist training, equipment and operational support.
Support our Wildlife Ranger Challenge Appeal and your donation will be generously matched by Mark Scheinberg, doubling its impact!

Civvies Day for Rhino
Our youth are our future leaders and conservationists
September is World Rhino Month, with World Rhino Day marked on Tuesday, 22 September 2026. It’s a time to celebrate our wildlife and inspire the next generation to take action!
We invite all schools to take part in our Civvies Day for Rhino – encouraging learners to play their part in protecting our wildlife.
Schools can choose any day in September for learners to wear civvies in exchange for a suggested R10 donation per person. Each donation goes a long way in supporting Project Rhino’s conservation efforts in KZN, which include a dedicated aerial patrol, K9 and horse anti-poaching units and education projects like Rhino Art.
Please email schools@projectrhinokzn.org to get involved and help raise awareness.
Rafikis Rhino Run 2026
Women for Conservation
The Rafikis Rhino Run is back – and it’s not your average walk or run…we put the FUN in fun run!
Hosted by Rafikis, this vibrant Women for Conservation event is a 6.5km fun walk celebrating conservation, community and KwaZulu-Natal’s incredible wildlife. Most importantly, the event raises funds in support of Project Rhino and our ongoing conservation work.
Along the route, the fun doesn’t stop! Each kilometre features a sponsored “watering hole”, with local businesses bringing their own colourful themes, personalities and drinks to keep participants refreshed and the good times rolling.
Your entry includes registration, drinks at the watering holes, a commemorative T-shirt and an awesome goodie bag. And once you’ve completed the route, the celebration continues at Rafikis, with specials, surprises, lively music and plenty of fun.
So grab your friends, wear your brightest pink or red lipstick, and join us for an unforgettable day of fun, fundraising and conservation spirit! And to the men taking part – lipstick is optional!
Please note: This is an 18+ event, as alcoholic beverages are included along the route. No persons under 18 will be permitted.
